This multi-specialty team is made up of more than 40 staff physicians practicing several highly specialized tertiary care services including Hearing and Speech, Head and Neck Surgery, Laryngotracheal Reconstruction, Nasal and Sinus Disorders, Otology-Neurotology, Pediatric Otolaryngology and Vestibular and Balance Disorders. As an RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in the Laryngology division in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. The Laryngology team focuses on voice dysfunction, swallow dysfunction and upper airway issues. In this role, you will specifically care for patients in need of trach care, decannulations, laser therapy, Botox/steroid injections, vocal cord implants and lesion removal. The Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including further education and online/in-person courses to enhance their skills. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00am4:30pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting to high-acuity and post-surgical patients. Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, and establish care plans. Administer medication and treatments. Initiate CPR and other emergency measures. Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings. Assist with specialized procedures such as trach changes, injections and voice therapy support. Participate in testing such as FEES with speech-language pathologists. Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families. Engage with surgeons, APPs, medical assistants and other care team members. Support efforts to decannulate and rehabilitate patients. Cover other nursing roles within the department. Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire Two years of recent nursing experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Surgical or procedural background (e.g. operating room, endoscopy, chairside procedures) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
