Postgresql Database Administrator

Leidos has a need for a Postgres database administrator to support the Custom Border Patrol TVPS program that handles all the travelers coming into the country via airports, seaports, pedestrian, and vehicle lanes. The candidate is responsible for performing tasks relating to database management system (DBMS) applications, including definition, design, structure, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Duties include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation. Uses data mapping, data mining, and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Support duties may include: entering and reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Responsible for entire projects or processes within a technical area. Typically responsible for coaching and reviewing the work of lower level technical staff. Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, deep analyses, and understanding of impact on end-product/solution. Develops solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge. Communicates with internal and client project team members. Works to influence team members regarding solution design, process, and/or approaches. This position requires the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, twice a week. Minimum qualifications: Over 10 years of experience with Postgres 16.4 database with an understanding of upgrading, partitioning, and archiving current database. U.S. citizen Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP background investigation prior to start Understands how to write queries into the database to gather information and metrics. Experience in troubleshooting problems Good customer interaction and communication Good communication skills including documentation and ticket resolution On rare occasions, be willing to support the contract in the evening, weekend, and holidays if ever needed Willing to travel to the DC area twice a week (on-site visits to Ashburn) Can work with a team or independently Experience in Windows, Software Center, and looking into logs to determine cause of issues Preferred qualifications: Develop test data that can be inserted into testing database within dev end test regions Develop scripts for the database for information, metrics, test results, etc. Work with a team of DBAs to share best practices across the program DHS BI clearance Pay range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00 Leidos is an equal opportunity employer/disability/vet.
