Job Title

Responsibilities: Implements, monitors, and updates a comprehensive program that encompasses both patient care and employee health issues. Typical Physical Demands: Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. Frequent: standing, sitting, walking, lifting and carrying usual weight of 10 pounds, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object. Occasional: stopping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, lifting weight up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds of force, carrying usual weight of 10 pounds up to 25 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Typical Working Conditions: Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Must be available to take call on a rotational basis. Minimum Qualifications: A. Education/Certification and Licensure: Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse. Bachelor's degree in Science or related field required. Master's degree preferred with a preference in Public Health. Successful completion of APIC's EPI 101 or comparable course preferred. Current certification in Infection and Prevention Control through the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) preferred. B. Experience: Two (2) years nursing experience in infection control, or in an acute care or community healthcare setting. Leadership and teaching experience, including adult education principles, and/or patient care practices. Experience to demonstrate: knowledge of epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, microbiology, sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Experience with regulatory requirements for Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other federal and state agencies. State of Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) experience preferred. Experience working in process improvement, epidemiology and microbiology preferred.
