Position Overview
The Cook union is responsible for preparing nutritional meals in an establishment that serves food while maintaining a clean workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces. Prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents. Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sauting, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards. Manage and monitor all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for person-served including those with special diets. Responsible for general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies Maintain cleanliness and complies with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage. Cleans and sanitizes cooking surfaces at the end of the shift. Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs. Other duties as assigned. The Salary for this position: The Minimum is $15.76/HR and the Maximum is $17:10/HR Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Food Handler Certification One to two years of experience as a line cook, or prep cook Certificate in Culinary Arts PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS High school diploma or GED - preferred Experience with various cooking methods and procedures Familiar with industry best practices Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
