Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons has an opening for a Systems Security Engineering Manager 1, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in either Northridge, CA, Tucson, AZ or Linthicum, MD. Expected travel would be between 25-40%. The candidate will have a dual role performing as a technical leader/contributor in the field of Systems Security Engineering (SSE) as well as a functional manager. Roles and Responsibilities: A successful candidate will have the qualities and essential functional expertise to: Coach and develop staff by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth. Ensure staff receive the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles. Collaborate with peer Department Managers and the Director to develop a strategy for organizational growth and retention. Take lead responsibility for departmental performance ensuring deliverables meet technical quality, cost, and schedule objectives. Develop plans to resolve SSE issues, communicate the plan, and advise Senior Leadership on progress. Technically contribute to the design, development, implementation and verification of SSE solutions into AW missile products. Apply sound engineering principles, metrics, and ensure compliance with all published processes and standards in SSE solutions. Recommend use of tools and technologies to ensure alignment to operational initiatives. Actively participate in process improvement and process corrective action boards/groups. Provide resources for proposals; participate in proposal writing as needed; develop, review, and approve Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed. Work with Engineering Management and Program Management to ensure all programs are adequately and appropriately staffed. Be accountable for managing the people, processes, and tools that support the Systems Security engineering team of ~10 engineers. Establish annual employee goals and conduct periodic performance appraisals against the goals. Manage hiring activities, including creating job requisitions, recruiting, interviewing, and making hiring decisions in a group that is in the process of expanding. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of related experience, or Master's with 3 years related experience, or PhD with 0 years related experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field. Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement, and organizational skills. Experience leading and contributing to the development of SSE solutions for weapons systems. Experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition of requirements, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and verification. Demonstrated technical expertise in systems engineering. Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Software Engineering processes and milestones; understanding of the requirements analysis, decomposition, and allocation process. Able to work well within a team environment and adapt quickly to change. Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity/anti-tamper-related experience. Prior people management experience. U.S Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance prior to starting. Ability to obtain/maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) access. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in the defense industry on weapon systems. Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields. Familiarity with Embedded Software, Anti-Tamper, Information Assurance/Cyber-Security, or other Program Protection Engineering disciplines. Possess a DOD 8570 certification: CompTIA Security+, CISSP or similar. Experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management and customers in a methodical, and detailed fashion. Prior technical program execution leadership for a team of 7+ SSE personnel. Previous functional management experience leading a team of SSE engineers for at least 1 year. Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years. Living in Northridge offers a perfect combination of urban living with the beauty of nature.
