Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer within Seriös Group, you are a key player in implementing our client’s cloud data platforms, IoT analytics, data integration, and migration projects. You will deliver data solutions, including data pipelines and processing solutions, working with our Data Architects to support a client’s data architecture framework. You will collaborate with Data Solution Architects and Insight Analysts to implement data pipelines across data layers and models, ensuring orchestration, data provenance, quality, and lineage to support supportability. You will support and demonstrate that a client’s data architecture framework is implemented, ensuring principles and standards are followed to develop well-architected, scalable, robust, and cost-effective data solutions. You will support and refine technical standards across the organization when implementing technologies that shape the organization’s approach to data, delivering best practices. You will work in a technology-agnostic manner, utilizing market-leading technologies to shape solutions for our clients. Liaising with clients and developing your client-facing skills is a key part of this role. The role may involve managing technical staff, including line management and coaching/mentoring. Prior technical and team leadership experience is preferred. You will have a passion for data, staying current with the latest technologies and methodologies, and supporting team members to improve continually. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with Data Solution Architects and Insight Analysts on cloud data warehouse and IoT analytics projects using AWS or Azure. Create and maintain detailed solution documentation. Develop and maintain data pipeline processes across data layers and models. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions. Adhere to source control best practices. Ensure data provenance, quality, and lineage are supported and maintained for supportability. Manage workload using Agile methodologies. Mentor graduate and/or apprentice consultants. Stay updated with latest technologies, methodologies, and best practices in cloud and data. Obtain and maintain relevant certifications. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Manage a team of Data Engineers. Person Specification: Ability to implement technical solutions based on architectural designs. Guidance skills for apprentice/graduate team members. Excellent communication of technical solutions to various stakeholders. Self-motivated with a proactive work approach. Strong client relationship development skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Understanding of multiple client needs and adaptability. Work prioritization and deadline management skills. Requirements: Extensive experience in senior data engineering or BI roles. Proven ETL and data pipeline implementation skills, technology-agnostic. Experience with technologies like Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Snowflake, PowerBI, etc. Understanding of data warehouse and lake principles. Strong data modeling skills (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault). Advanced SQL and data engineering coding skills (Python, Spark, R). Experience with backlog management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps). Previous management and mentoring experience. Knowledge of data governance and policies. Experience with data visualization tools. IoT sensor technology experience is advantageous. Experience in agile consulting teams. Infrastructure as Code experience (ARM, PowerShell, CloudFormation, Terraform). Source control experience with Git.
