Job Description Rate of Pay: $24.15/hr USD The Cook is responsible for preparing hot and cold food items for the restaurant and catering, adhering to Fairmont Grand Del Mar standards. The role involves maintaining cleanliness, controlling food quality, and managing food safety and waste. Prepare food of consistent quality following standards. Rotate and date all food containers per SOP. Practice safety and sanitation standards at all times. Cook orders as requested, including special requests. Manage ahead-of-time food preparation, avoiding overproduction. Ensure perishables are stored at proper temperatures. Portion all items accurately. Control food waste and assist with food cost management. Check inventory levels, prepare for shifts, and assist with buffet stocking. Assist in prep work for the next shift. Return unused food to storage, covering and dating perishables. Undertake reasonable requests from management within capabilities. Qualifications Effective verbal communication with guests and colleagues. Physical ability to push, pull, bend, and reach. Ability to read BEOs and work all banquet functions. Skills in carving, pasta, omelet, stir-fry stations, and meat preparation. Ability to measure and follow recipes accurately. Basic English proficiency, both spoken and written.
