What to Expect
The Operations and Systems Engineering team in Supply Chain is responsible for developing processes and systems to support reliable and efficient flow of all direct materials to Tesla's factories, distribution centers, service locations, installation sites, and other relevant sites. As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will work with global teams to deliver operational improvements, system capabilities, and data insights that are critical to supporting increasing production volume and fleet size. You will collaborate with planning, logistics, warehousing, and other stakeholders to identify key operational and system improvements for scalability and efficiency. You will develop solutions, manage implementation, and oversee program execution. This requires deep knowledge of supply chain and transportation processes, systems, and KPIs. The role demands strategic thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects at organizational and global levels. Success in this role requires being self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Do
Identify, analyze, and solve problems related to system, data, or procedural optimization in supply chain and logistics operations. Research and collaborate with planners, vendors, customers, warehouse, logistics, and software engineers to develop and deploy solutions. Create training materials and SOPs that reflect current system behaviors and supply chain scenarios, ensuring high knowledge levels and effective usage. Define and track KPIs to measure operational performance, issue frequency, software usage, and effectiveness, ensuring data accuracy and availability. Own and monitor automated processes, manage input parameters, and adjust algorithms to meet business goals, troubleshooting issues as needed. Provide updates on initiatives, gather feedback, and develop the roadmap. Test systems before deployment and address issues proactively. Document detailed system requirements, test cases, dependencies, risks, and project plans. Engage in technical discussions with software developers to optimize backend design and system architecture.
What You'll Bring
Degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience demonstrating exceptional ability. 8+ years' experience in planning, supply chain, manufacturing, or business operations, or 5+ years managing software projects or working extensively with ERP data. Data-driven problem-solving skills, with the ability to query, analyze, and present data. Proven ability to manage expectations, meet deadlines, and lead cross-functional teams across systems and organizational boundaries. Experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution, with knowledge of transportation and trade regulations. Familiarity with process improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen), Agile methodology, and experience with machine learning and vision systems. Knowledge of SAP or Oracle ERP, SQL, NoSQL, GQL, DDL, Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, and proficiency in R or Python for data analysis.
