Sr. IT Project Manager - Infrastructure
Fortune 100 financial services organization that is the leading retirement provider for people who work in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields. Sr. Technical Project Manager This Sr. Technical Project Manager role will be focused on the full project lifecycle including scope definition, budget estimates, project planning, design, build, and operate. This role is infrastructure oriented in support of the Application Development teams and the Lines of Business and will be providing technical project leadership. There will be multiple project types including the build out of in-memory grids, workflow system re-platform, use of cloud technologies and foundational maintenance projects. Therefore, in addition to strong project management and leadership skills, a strong background in infrastructure is a must; thorough understanding of the full infrastructure stack is needed (Cloud, Network, Server, Storage, Database, Middleware and File transfer technologies). Must be able to understand tactical and strategic program direction in order to lead, prioritize and drive issues keeping the program on track without sacrificing quality delivery. Strong ability to analyze business unit technology needs, dissecting complex problems and suggesting solutions. Directs technology teams in the areas of scheduling, technical decision making, future planning and deployment timelines. Ability to define and negotiate deliverables from initial requirements to final implementation across internal customers, vendors and technology areas. Actively identifies any issues or risks associated with a project, escalating them and possibly implementing mitigation strategies for risk prevention and timely resolution. Responds to direct questions from IT Management or the business on the effects of missed activities, issues or escalations. Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, and troubleshooting skills. Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project objectives are met in a timely manner and has in-depth knowledge of the principals, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing infrastructure projects. Creates project plans and teamwork assignments, identifies resource needs, directs daily work efforts, and tracks key project milestones. Strong ability to track and monitor project execution, regularly updating project plans and status reports. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field. 8+ years leading/managing complex technology projects, especially in infrastructure areas. 10+ years as an Information Technology professional Ability to oversee multiple projects and project teams. Thorough understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Methodologies. Good knowledge of enterprise datacenter technologies including servers, storage, networking, traffic management, enterprise service bus/messaging. Experience with large migration, integration and consolidation efforts. Experience in coordinating and leading problem resolution, design issues and upgrades with internal and external partners
