Information System Security Officer

We are seeking a diligent and resourceful Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team. If you are a proactive cybersecurity professional with a passion for protecting critical systems and making an impact in national security, this role is for you. A Day in the Life: As an ISSO at LGarde, you will help secure and protect complex systems in a classified aerospace and defense environment. You will collaborate with leadership, IT, and compliance teams to ensure that cybersecurity controls meet stringent federal requirements. You will drive compliance initiatives, monitor security posture, and actively safeguard the systems that make critical projects a success. Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity & Compliance Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity controls in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF). Maintain and update System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, risk assessments, and continuous monitoring documentation. Perform vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits using tools such as Nessus, SCAP/STIG, or PowerShell. Collaborate with the CFO and IT Manager to ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, DFARS 252.204-7012, and other applicable cybersecurity standards. Develop and maintain security documentation, including SSPs and incident response plans. Technical Operations Support account provisioning, patch management, secure configurations, and network monitoring. Evaluate and recommend security solutions that meet DoD and federal requirements for processing classified information. Participate in security authorization activities, including Risk Assessment Reports, Certification and Accreditation packages, and System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs). Support security awareness training and insider threat mitigation programs. Maintain thorough documentation for all security-related processes, changes, and configurations. Interface with external auditors and DoD/DCSA representatives during inspections and assessments. Promote a positive security culture and set an example for compliance and accurate record-keeping. Teamwork & Communication Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, vendors, and government stakeholders. Work independently or in collaboration with a small, high-trust team to solve complex problems and maintain mission readiness. Contribute to a culture of proactive security and continuous improvement. Who You Are

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience. At least 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, IT administration, or compliance in a defense or aerospace environment. Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, DFARS 252.204-7012, and RMF processes. Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and cybersecurity tools (e.g., Nessus, SIEM, endpoint protection). Strong understanding of IT systems, networking, security policies, process controls, and IT operations. Advanced knowledge of security principles such as defense in depth, zero trust, least privilege, separation of duties, access controls, and encryption. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document policies, incidents, and technical processes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask, manage shifting priorities, and work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Maintains Top Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance. DoD Directive 8570.1 IAM Level I or higher certification, such as a COMPTIA Security plus certification. What We Offer
