Summary of Position

The Payroll Clerk will serve as the assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization including processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing. The Senior Accountant will work directly with the CFO in closing out the general ledger at month end, and with generating the financial reports for management and the Board of Directors on a month-to-month or as-needed basis.

The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •Experience: Two to four years of office experience, preferably in healthcare. •Additional skills required: Critical thinking skills. Communication skills. Willingness to perform continuing education to enhance proper skills. Working knowledge of Word and Excel software. Experience with Quickbooks or other accounting software. •Additional skills preferred: Experience with electronic health records

Education: Requires at a minimum an associate degree in accounting. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with Accounts Payable for recording and payment as backup.

2. Time and Attendance recording and monitoring

3. Payroll Processing

4. Quarterly Tax filing

5. Monitor Accounts Payable listing for timely filing to take advantage of purchase discounts.

6. Post electronic draft payments from vendor/bank statement to general ledger and assist CFO with discrepancies in bank reconciliation process.

7. Post deposits to general ledger in appropriate Accounts Receivable journal or miscellaneous receipts journal.

8. Post adjusting journal entries to the general ledger and analyze month-end reports for accuracy and discrepancies in general ledger.

9. Process non-federal grant reports to the appropriate entities.

10. Research vendors for exclusion from OIG or GSA's prohibited vendors listing.

11. Input employee demographics into payroll and accounting system and process payroll for posting to general ledger and direct deposit to employee's authorized bank account.

12. Maintain timekeeping system for recording employees' time and process PTO request to company calendar for management review.

13. Analyze timekeeping for appropriate amount of PTO usage for bi-weekly payment of salaries/wages.

14. Timely payment of payroll taxes, garnishments, and employee withheld benefits.

15. Participate in quality improvement activities by initiating or contributing to monitoring, measuring, analyzing, improving and/or controlling program goals, objectives and/or services.

16. Support current incentive, regulatory, and certification requirements (such as Meaningful Use, PCMH and UDS) through documentation, participation in initiatives, and other activities as directed.
