The Embedded Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in launching advanced telematics and assisted systems like RTLS, camera-based systems, AI-enhanced services into dynamic forklift environments to enhance operator safety and efficiency. Responsible for the successful engineering of new products and advanced systems with a focus on original embedded software code. Hands-on role responsible for Telematics, IoT, ADAS systems software development, integration, and evaluation to complement forklift design requirements. Projects typically include vehicle control systems, IoT connectivity, and autonomous controls integration. Non-software responsibilities may include CAN network design and basic electrical subsystem development. What You Will Do: Develop software for advanced operator assist functions, ADAS features, Telematics, IoT in collaboration with truck design teams in line with project plans. Develop and maintain CAN communication interfaces between controllers, TCUs, batteries, and other systems. Create test plans for software validation; analyze results and produce documentation and recommendations. Work with sensors and hardware to implement computer vision and automated solutions. Integrate perception software components and deep learning systems for automation and driver assist projects. When & Where: Hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote). Work primarily in an office environment, including development labs, manufacturing lines, and customer facilities. Location options: Houston, TX or Marengo, IL campus. Travel: 15-20%. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in relevant fields. 5+ years of experience in developing complex software systems. Proficiency in C/C++/Python and hardware-software interactions. Experience with Linux environments, version control, vehicle networks (CAN Open), and electrical instruments. Preferred Skills: Experience with cameras, LiDAR, embedded controllers, robotic platforms, RTOS, firmware architecture, object detection, ADAS, embedded security, and system integration.
