LPN Per Diem This position is located in Paramus, NJ Position Overview: Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 13 years and is currently looking for an experienced and energetic Full-Time Medical Assistant for one of our physician offices. Dr. Baxi specializes in Physiatry and focuses his expertise in the subspecialty of sports medicine, spine care, pain management, and musculoskeletal medicine. In this role you will assist the provider with outpatient office visits, as well as provide administrative support to an HSS physician practice and contribute to an environment of clinical excellence. The primary clinical tasks are: patient rooming, injection set up and phlebotomy. The primary administrative tasks are: answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking out patients, assisting with new patient questionnaires, chart review, patient call backs. Competencies/skills: Experience with Epic Medical Records System required; strong computer skills required as well Superior written and oral communication skills Exceptional customer service skills Ability to follow through with tasks to completion Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment Ability to effectively and accurately follow directions or instructions Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed Detail-oriented Ability to escalate issues appropriately Consistently displays a positive attitude towards one's work and work environment Knowledge of healthcare and health insurance Familiarity with medical terminology and general office protocol required. Answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, checking out patients, collecting copays and assist with patient call backs. Coordinating patient intake, answering patient calls, scheduling appointments, following up with and tracking patients after surgery, documentation, and assisting in scribing during patient visits. Serve as an ambassador in patient flow and care operations, and outreach to referring practices. Assist with patient rooming tasks (i.e., medication reconciliation, medical history, vital signs, height/weight, fall assessment, pain scale etc.). Confirm radiology services have been completed prior to physician visits. Assist in managing patient information, uploading CD images & making copies of pertinent exams. Assist patients with wayfinding and transport (e.g., wheelchair) throughout the site. Ensure patient care areas and nurses' station are neat and presentable. Provide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and staff. Assist patients with filling out questionnaires and assessment forms. Perform chart review. To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree preferred) and at least two years of experience in an ambulatory practice setting. A Medical Assistant Certification from an Accredited Program is also required. Working under the supervision of one of our prominent MD's, you will provide the upmost deliverance of patient care in the physician's office setting. Scope of duties will include: Assisting the physician in treatments and procedures Proficiency in obtaining vital signs, height and weight, venipuncture, cast removal, suture and staple removal and application of off-the-shelf braces Rooming patients Overseeing patient flow Stocking exam rooms Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing Current NJ State LPN License and Registration BLS Certification Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of Ambulatory Clinic, Physician's Office or Hospital setting Experience with EMR preferably EPIC Excellent customer service and communication skills to all customers including patients, physicians, fellow co-workers, etc. Establishing and maintaining an organized professional environment Ability to thrive in a fast paced setting Non-Discrimination Policy: Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
