Position Overview:

As an Electrical Superintendent at GPT Renewables, you will be responsible for overseeing the electrical installations of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Your role involves managing the electrical team, ensuring that all electrical work is completed on time, within budget, and according to the highest standards of safety and quality. With a strong background in solar PV systems and electrical construction, you will lead the team to deliver successful, efficient, and compliant solar installations.

Responsibilities:

Project Management & Supervision:

Lead and supervise the electrical team in the installation, testing, and commissioning of solar PV systems, ensuring all work aligns with project plans, specifications, and schedules. Safety Compliance:

Enforce compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations, and conduct regular safety meetings and audits to ensure a safe work environment. Quality Control:

Oversee the quality of all electrical installations, including wiring, grounding, inverter installations, and connection to the grid, ensuring adherence to industry standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Coordination & Communication:

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other site superintendents to coordinate electrical work with other trades, ensuring smooth project flow and resolving any conflicts or delays. Scheduling & Resource Management:

Develop and manage project schedules for electrical work, including manpower planning, material ordering, and tool/equipment allocation. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:

Identify, diagnose, and resolve any electrical issues that arise during installation, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including daily reports, material logs, and inspection reports, and communicate progress to upper management. Training & Mentoring:

Provide training and mentoring to electrical foremen, journeymen, and apprentices, ensuring that all team members are skilled, knowledgeable, and performing to their highest potential. Compliance & Inspections:

Ensure that all electrical installations meet local, state, and federal codes, and work with inspectors to gain necessary approvals. Budget Management:

Monitor and control electrical project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, to stay within budget while maintaining quality standards. Continuous Improvement:

Continuously seek ways to improve project efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety and quality outcomes. Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role within the solar industry, specifically overseeing electrical installations in utility-scale solar projects. Proven track record of managing large-scale solar PV projects from start to finish, including experience with electrical system design, installation, and commissioning. Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including medium and high-voltage systems, inverters, transformers, and switchgear, as well as grounding and bonding practices. Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant standards and regulations. Experience with project management software and tools for scheduling, reporting, and communication. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

In-depth knowledge of solar PV system components, including modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and racking systems. Expertise in electrical safety practices, including lockout/tag-out procedures, arc flash prevention, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues in the field. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and work under tight deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore or similar office management software Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and inspectors.
