Sr. Database Engineer
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr. Database Engineer to support a library modernization program for National Geospatial Agency in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The team is seeking a skilled engineer to define and develop upgrades to an enterprise-wide Imagery Archive and Geospatial Intelligence System. Clearance: Active Top Secret, TS/SCI highly preferred Location: Rancho Bernardo, CA (100% on-site) This job opens for applications on 8/1/2025. Applications for this job will be accepted for at least 30 days from the posting date. Responsibilities of the Sr. Database Engineer:
Design, develop, and maintain Oracle databases across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. Develop and optimize complex PL/SQL code, including functions, procedures, packages, and user-defined types, to support application functionality and data processing needs. Write and tune advanced SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation. Administer Oracle RDBMS environments (12c and 19c), including configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning. Manage Oracle pluggable databases and perform basic server operations in RHEL Linux environments (versions 7/8), including shell scripting in Bash and CSH. Implement and enforce Oracle STIG compliance and database hardening procedures to meet security and regulatory standards. Design and implement database schemas, data models, and architecture to support scalable and maintainable systems. Support cloud-based database environments, particularly AWS RDS, including deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams using tools like Jira and Git to manage tasks, track issues, and maintain version control. Install and configure Oracle Instant Client as needed for application and development support. Contribute to a collaborative and secure team environment, demonstrating a proactive attitude and strong communication skills. Qualifications of the Sr. Database Engineer:
Active Top Secret clearance, TS/SCI highly preferred 6-8+ years of database development and administration across the entire development lifecycle Experience as an Oracle developer with Oracle RDBMS versions 12c and 19c Experience building Oracle PL/SQL functions, procedures, packages, and types Experience with SQL query syntax Experience with RHEL Linux versions 7/8 Experience with Oracle STIG and hardening related procedures Strong oral and written communication skills to engage with team and stakeholders Compensation of the Sr. Database Engineer:
