Neogen is seeking a Genomics Application Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of our LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and .NET-based applications. In this critical role, you'll translate business requirements from Sales and Operations into robust technical solutions, contributing to the quality and efficiency of Neogen Genomics systems. This position requires a strong understanding of system architecture, data flow, and software development best practices, with a focus on supporting genomic laboratory operations. This role follows a hybrid or on-site model, promoting flexibility while maintaining strong collaboration with the IT and Genomics teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain applications following SDLC best practices to support Neogen Genomics operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable application solutions. Design and document system architecture, user stories, business flows, and data flows. Conduct systematic testing to validate new development and minimize system disruption. Work closely with development and IT teams to define system requirements and data integrations. Troubleshoot, document, and resolve system issues, identifying root causes and long-term solutions. Provide user training on new and existing applications to support adoption and effectiveness. Support laboratory, data, and project managers in project planning and implementation, including defining priorities, timelines, and agile launches. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of laboratory application functionality and user needs. Routinely assess and recommend system improvements that reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing timely updates and collaborating on project direction. Technical Skills & Tools:
Databases: MS SQL (including SSIS and SSRS), MySQL Languages: .NET, .NET Core, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C# API Development and Integration Experience Source Control: GitHub, Azure DevOps Document Management & Ticketing: Azure DevOps, Freshservice Microsoft Office Suite: Visio, OneNote, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required. 25 years of related software development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience supporting laboratory systems or other scientific data environments preferred. Work Environment:
Hybrid or on-site position with occasional extended hours during project implementations. Close collaboration with laboratory and technical teams in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
