Senior Database Administrator

to join our team in

Reston, VA . This is an

onsite

position. The

Database Administrator

will work to determine, implement, and maintain the most efficient ways to organize and store data for the program, with potential travel worldwide to deploy, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain systems. Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities Participating in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases

Managing, monitoring, and administering database system performance and schedules

Monitoring the performance of system files and managing system data to maintain performance efficiency

Providing technical support in the evaluation of prime object names, data elements, and other objects

Recommending and implementing appropriate procedure, query, or package changes and optimizations to ensure and improve system performance and reliability

Participating in server and storage capacity management and planning for the most complex and critical systems

Communicating with in-country personnel remotely to troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2-4 issues and documenting issues and resolutions appropriately

Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time

Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant relational database administration, database development, and database management experience

Significant experience with PostgreSQL architecture, database design, administration, and related technologies

Significant experience working in a Linux environment and strong scripting experience (Bash, SQL, etc.)

Strong experience managing and troubleshooting databases remotely and resolving data issues remotely

Strong Oracle database administration experience

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with MongoDB and experience working in Cloud environments

Prior experience working, installing, and maintaining complex systems deployed worldwide

Clearance Requirements: Must possess an active/current Top Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time

Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer

The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
