Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Writes code and performs programming, testing, and debugging of software applications. Maintains existing applications for maintenance of business Analyzes methods to efficiently address software system requirements Finalizes forms, procedures, and documentations needed for installation and maintenance of application programs. Practices good software engineering techniques and standards to minimize coding errors and ensure robustness and efficiency of work products. Partners with software teams in the development of software engineering processes. Participate in software project meetings and provide status reports. Interfaces with internal IT staff including Quality Assurance, Software Architects and others. Works with Operations and business partners to add new or custom features to company products. Assumes full end-to-end accountability and responsibility for assigned tasks as well as the end production delivery. Applies software engineering and Object Oriented Design principles as well as utilizes UML based design documents and code to create or enhance software. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities. Client Responsibilities This is an internal client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) along with a minimum of 5 to 8+ years' related experience in software development. Computer Skills (and technologies) To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with: JAVA and other currently used programming languages. Web application development using J2EE technologies, Struts, JSF, RichFaces, Hibernate Spring, PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle Object oriented software development Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Other Skills and Abilities Familiar with software development lifecycle; working knowledge of software engineering including analysis, design, development, implementation, and verification; Thorough knowledge of software methodologies, distributed networking, databases, communications, and multiprocessing applications. Ability to apply technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Must be able to work collaboratively on teams and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Work Location This position must work on-site at the San Diego Headquarters for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work is not an option for these purposes. Working Hours This is an exempt level position requiring one to work the hours needed to get the job done. Therefore one must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
