Job Opportunity At United Therapeutics

We are a publicly-traded biotech or pharmaceutical company that has taken the form of a public benefit corporation. Our purpose is to provide a brighter future for patients through the development of novel pharmaceutical therapies and technologies that expand the availability of transplantable organs. United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter's pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create bio-artificial organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option. Who You Are:

We are looking for a single cell genomic data wiz looking to play a valuable role in getting manufactured organs out to the patients who need them. This person will have a lot of control over the data sets that are collected. The Computational Lab for In Silico Molecular Biology applies computational modeling to enable in silico design and testing of lung disease therapies and manufactured organs. As part of this effort to develop an integrative multiscale lung model, the Data Scientist, Computational Biology will analyze and integrate diverse data types, including molecular, imaging, and text-based (scientific publications) to map biological processes relevant to lung disease and stem cell differentiation. Minimum Requirements

5+ years of professional experience with a BA/BS in Bachelor's Degree in computational biology, applied mathematics, or related field of study OR 3+ years of professional experience with a MA/MS in in computational biology, applied mathematics, or related field of study OR 1+ years of professional experience with a PhD in in computational biology, applied mathematics, or related field of study 1+ Experience with common databases and tools relevant to bioinformatics and systems biology Expertise in statistical and machine learning methods applied to high-dimensional molecular datasets, text mining, and/or imaging data Fluency in one or more scientific programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Julia, and/or MATLAB) Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences as demonstrated by record of presentations and publications Preferred Qualifications

1+ Experience with imaging (CT, MRI) data Knowledge of molecular/cellular biology, pulmonary physiology, and drug development Strong data visualization skills, including interactive visualization (e.g. R Shiny or d3.js) Proficiency with deep learning software packages This role is located onsite in Silver Springs, MD 4 days a week with 1 day a week working remotely.
