Job Description

To analyze and process various biological samples to help the physician treat or diagnose different diseases. Medical Technologists prepare samples for testing and are trained to operate and troubleshoot all laboratory equipment. Key Accountabilities: Use established lab protocols to perform laboratory tests on all Laboratory equipment. Determines specimen validity. Identify, diagnose and repair issues that may arise with the laboratory equipment. Verify all test results and ensure that they are correctly matched with the specimen. Correctly releases results of those tests once lab established criteria for quality control is met. Accurately performs and interprets numerous complicated tests simultaneously. Labels and organize all specimens appropriately to make sure that they are easily retrievable Reviews all quality control before releasing patient results to assure accurate patient testing. Establishes and monitors programs to ensure data accuracy. Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration. Adheres to and enforces departmental operating policies and procedures to include all programs, quality control, quality assurance, CLIA regulations, and safety. Follows all laboratory policies and procedures. Attends required staff meetings. Maintains strict patient confidentiality. Adheres to OSHA regulations. Performs other duties as requested. Reports to: Laboratory Lead, supervisor or manager. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, co-workers and physicians. Qualifications: Bachelor or Associate degree in medical technology or related scientific field. ASCP certification preferred or equivalent. 1-3 years of full-time experience as a generalist in a clinical laboratory preferred. Good computer and math skills. Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) in a clinical laboratory environment is desired. Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure. Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties. Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts in a straightforward and timely manner. Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter. Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator. Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect. Experience with Labdaq-LIS system is a plus. Excellent patience, communication and organizational skills required. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to multitask is a must.
