Associate Scientist, Biology (Bioassays)
ZipRecruiter, San Diego, California, United States, 92189
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARWR) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops medicines to treat intractable diseases by silencing the genes responsible. Using a broad portfolio of RNA chemistries and efficient delivery modes, Arrowhead's therapies activate the RNA interference mechanism to achieve rapid, deep, and durable gene knockdown. RNA interference, or RNAi, is a natural cellular process that inhibits the expression of specific genes, affecting protein production. Arrowhead's RNAi-based therapeutics leverage this pathway to address various diseases.
Focused on genetic diseases characterized by overproduction of specific proteins, Arrowhead's versatile RNAi technologies aim to target conditions across many therapeutic areas, including those not addressable by small molecules or biologics. The company is pioneering the application of RNAi beyond the liver, with clinical pipelines targeting liver and lung diseases, complemented by a pipeline of preclinical candidates.
Headquartered in Pasadena, CA, with research and development in Madison, WI, and San Diego, CA, and a manufacturing facility in Verona, WI, Arrowhead's team comprises innovative scientists committed to bringing new therapies to patients.
The Position Arrowhead seeks an Associate Scientist to join the BioAssays team in San Diego. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop laboratory skills within a progressive, state-of-the-art, and diverse environment.
Responsibilities
Perform in vitro and ex vivo studies to support drug discovery and development across various diseases.
Conduct gene expression and functional analyses using various methods.
Review and apply relevant scientific literature to troubleshoot and resolve project issues.
Present research findings to project teams and prepare study reports.

Collaborate with multiple program teams as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, or related fields.
