Job Description:

Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. General Information:

Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia's Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.

Responsibilities:

The Division of Engineering, Business, and Public Services at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Teach all aspects of properties of construction materials and related testing procedures for technicians. Teach all aspects of CAD software as applied to residential and commercial buildings. Both broad content areas involve classroom and laboratory instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of related work experience. Ability to use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required. Additional Considerations:

Work experience in the use of Surveying equipment, distance measurement, traversing, area computations, topographic map analysis, earthwork and other related topics. Knowledge in basics of applied hydraulics, drainage and water resource technology preferred. Must be able to run labs with surveying equipment.
