OVERVIEW
The Strategist is a key player in developing and executing effective strategies that drive client success and agency growth. This role requires a blend of analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and strong communication skills. The Strategist will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand client needs, identify opportunities, and deliver impactful solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Strategy Leadership
Serve as a strategic lead for assigned clients, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted advisor. Develop a deep understanding of clients' businesses, industries, challenges, and objectives. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to clients, aligning agency services with their goals. Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to enhance their business outcomes.
Strategic Plan Ownership & Execution
Take ownership of the development, implementation, and execution of comprehensive strategic plans. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., creative, media, account management) to ensure strategic alignment and effective execution. Monitor and analyze the performance of strategic initiatives, identifying areas for optimization and improvement. Ensure that strategic plans are delivered on time and within budget.
Strategic Facilitation & Collaboration
Facilitate strategic discussions and workshops with clients and internal teams. Foster a collaborative and productive environment that encourages innovative thinking. Work cross-functionally to gather insights, share knowledge, and ensure alignment across all departments. Communicate strategic recommendations and rationale clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
Growth Strategy Development
Contribute to the development of agency growth strategies, identifying new business opportunities and market trends. Participate in new business pitches, presenting strategic approaches and demonstrating the agency's capabilities. Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients by understanding their evolving needs. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform strategic recommendations.
Creative Brief and Documentation Management
Develop clear, concise, and inspiring creative briefs that effectively communicate strategic objectives and target audiences. Ensure that all strategic documentation (e.g., strategy decks, presentations, reports) is well-organized, accurate, and compelling. Maintain a central repository of strategic information and insights for easy access and reference. Contribute to the development of templates and processes to streamline strategic planning and documentation.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. 5 years of experience in a strategy role within an agency or related industry. Experience in non-profit marketing, fundraising, and content strategy. A proven track record of developing comprehensive fundraising strategies, setting realistic goals, identifying target audiences, and designing effective campaigns across different channels (e.g., direct mail, digital, events, major gifts) is vital. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The ability to think holistically, and seeing the interconnectedness of fundraising, branding and marketing - building overarching strategies that build a strong brand, engage the target audience, and ultimately drive philanthropic support. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proficient in productivity software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Slides, and Gmail. Deep understanding of marketing principles, consumer behavior, and non-profit trends. The ability to understand audience insights and to tailor strategies based on a target audience. The ability to understand and interpret performance metrics, making data-informed decisions. The ability to manage budgets and do forecasting. The ability to conduct thorough market research on the target audience, competitors, and marketing landscape to identify opportunities for growth. A strong understanding of various digital marketing channels and tactics, including SEO, SEM, social media marketing, content marketing, email marketing, and paid advertising. 25% Travel Requirements Preferred Qualifications:
