Cloud Engineer

This is a hybrid role from Dallas, TX or Chesapeake, VA. Relocation offered. As a Cloud Engineer, your role is to design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure and services. You will work closely with development teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of cloud platforms. Your responsibilities will include design, implementation, and partnering with Operations for ongoing maintenance of cloud-based solutions. This role is a hybrid position requiring in-office work. Duties: Work with cloud engineering staff, develop team members, and implement best practices and procedures Design, deploy via terraform, and manage scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure on GCP Design, deploy via terraform and manage Kubernetes clusters Work with developers, data scientists, and business leads to ensure that our GCP environment meets business requirements Optimize GCP infrastructure for performance, cost, and security Manage IAM for cloud environments Develop and implement automation tools and processes for cloud infrastructure management Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud platforms Monitor GCP infrastructure performance and implement improvements as needed Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed Enforce company and industry security standards ensuring SOX and PCI compliance Work within the framework of change control and trouble ticket system Responsible for the cloud disaster recovery design and execution utilizing best practices Required Skills: 3+ years of experience in deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure using terraform 10+ years of experience in IT engineering roles supporting a diverse range of technologies Ability to multi-task and work independently in a distributed business environment Strong knowledge of GKE, GCE, AutoML, VertexML, BigTable, BigQuery and Looker Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences Minimum Education and Desired Skills: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or commensurate experience (10+ years) in IT Infrastructure roles GCP certifications such as GCP Cloud Engineer and GCP Cloud Architect a plus Experience with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, version control, and testing using GitLab Familiarity with OCI and Azure is a plus Familiarity with using Datadog for cloud observability, monitoring and alerting EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
