Job Overview

This position works under the supervision of the professional nurse and collaborates to meet the needs of the patient within the scope of the role. Responsibilities may include assisting in direct patient care, providing environmental support, facilitating patient safety, and perform a variety of day-to-day clerical activities. This position assists with ensuring a continuous, efficient, and smooth patient flow. Serves as a liaison between staff and patients with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide Certificate from an approved certifying organization. 3. One (1) year of experience in health care or nursing. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Two (2) years of experience in health care or nursing. 2. Coursework in EKG and Phlebotomy. 3. Bilingual. Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Prepares patients for examination and treatment in a timely manner, including: obtain vital signs, urinalysis and blood glucose, microalbumin, and A1 C. Obtain, document, and reconcile allergy and medication lists. Collect and prepare specimens and relevant documentation for transportation to off-site laboratory, assuring accuracy in labeling and documenting. 2. Assists with any office examinations/procedures/tests/treatments. Administers appropriate injections to patients of all ages and draw blood specimens, following office & CDC guidelines. Maintain patient education resources and provide instruction and education to patients as instructed by providers. 3. Anticipate necessary labs, reports and consults the provider may need. Reconcile all lab results in EMR. Send out patient reminder letters and maintain patient compliance scheduling. 4. Prepare and replenish medical supplies including vaccine inventory and monitor medication refrigerator temperatures based on DPH requirements. Follow DPH protocols regarding the safe keeping of all medications and vaccines. 5. Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain diagnostic equipment. Quality control and record on all in-house testing i.e. urine, strep, blood glucose monitors and pregnancy controls. Report any malfunctions to BioMed. Arrange for any replacement/upgrades to all medical devices. 6. Facilitate daily operations and responsibilities of the day-to-day patient flow within each designated area, acting as the first level "go-to person" for the providers, clinical and clerical staff regarding troubleshooting issues such as patient complaints, billing questions, registration issues. 7. Assists with provider schedules and staff schedules. Coordinate and/or provide appropriate coverage for vacation requests and sick calls. 8. Acts as Electronic Medical Record "Super User", attending regular EMR training sessions, distributing new information or workflows to providers and staff and training of new staff members on EMR. 9. Participates in the interviewing, hiring and performance evaluation of staff, providing ongoing useful, objective, and constructive input. Facilitate the orientation of new and per-diem staff, including: creating orientation schedule and training of both clinical and clerical duties. 10. Works to foster and facilitate a respectful and collaborative relationship between nursing team and MA team in order to successfully meet site specific and organizational goals. 11. This position will act as a "subject matter expert" in the roles, duties, scope of practice, and workflows for other staff members.
