Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. As an Invasive Cardiovascular Technician EP at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by: Providing technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Provides patient care under the supervision of the RN. Assisting physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures. Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events. Educating patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure. Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions. Assisting in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit. Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures. Completing daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards. Accurately documents productivity information. Minimum Qualifications Invasive Cardiovascular Technician: High School Diploma or equivalent, required Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS within 18 months of hire, or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV Specific certification, required Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP), required ACLS and Surgical Technologist License with DORA obtained within 3 months of hire in state of Colorado, required Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree, preferred Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab, preferred Minimum Qualifications Invasive Cardiovascular Technician II: Bachelor's Degree or RCIS Certification, required Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS is required or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification or RCIS or RCES required. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS is required. Surgical Technologist License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the state of Colorado. Four (4) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) or more years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
