Title: Building Engineer - MUB VP Area: Administration & Finance - UMW Department: Facilities Operations Campus Location: Main Campus Advertised Range: $54,901 This position is being reposted, previous applicants do not need to reapply. Job Summary/Basic Functions We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Building Engineer. This position is responsible for the maintenance, care, upkeep of UMW building mechanical and electrical operating systems, building structures, equipment and furnishings. This position performs both routine and repair maintenance tasks and is responsible to coordinate the work of UMW staff, contract employees, and/or contractors of the University as required. This position will also provide shift coverage and is tasked with coordinating facilities services support and response to UMW operations. Shifts vary, from Wednesday-Sunday, 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm and Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The Building Engineer provides operations and building support to the University of Mary Washington. This position is deemed essential, in accordance with: Policy No.1.35 Department of Human Resources Management Policies And Procedures Manual. Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications Knowledge of and skill in basic computer operation Knowledge of and skill in maintenance practices in one or more of following building trades: electrician, plumber, HVAC, carpenter, or painter Extensive knowledge of building maintenance practices, building codes and regulations Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills as well as sound judgment and initiative Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and direct maintenance performed by UMW staff and contractors Ability to maintain required records Required Experience: Substantial experience in repair and upkeep of institutional/commercial building structures, building furnishings and components and building operating systems Extensive experience in building maintenance practices Experience in directing and coordinating building maintenance and repair projects Additional Considerations: KSAs Basic knowledge of BAS control programs Education Vocational trade school, in electrical, plumbing, HVAC or carpentry Experience Extensive experience in building maintenance at a residential institution, Prior employment at an institution of higher education Experience in contract oversight and management Licensure/Certification HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical journeyman's licensure Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or rsum is submitted successfully.
