Electrician Technician II
Norfolk State University's (NSU) Department of Facilities Management provides a campus environment that is conducive to working and learning through systematic maintenance, repair, and renovation and construction of campus buildings, facilities, and infrastructure. The department invites applications for Electrician Technician II. Electrician will assist in maintenance of all building and exterior electrical repairs, as well as equipment and machinery repairs. Essential duties include but are not limited to: Inspects and test electrical lighting, signal, communication and power circuits and equipment. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment, using suitable testing instruments. Use of appropriate electrical testing meters to test circuits and verify power. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances to ensure proper operation per trade practice. Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes. Effectively problem solves and trouble shoots. Ability to use ladders in the installation, maintenance, alteration, and repair of electrical systems.
