Research Associate - Global Center for Equitable Computer Science Education
The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development and Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate. The appointment is for one year to serve on a National Science Foundation-funded project. The postdoctoral scholar will have the chance to cultivate their own interests in educational technology and science, mathematics, engineering, technology, and computer science education. The post doc will work closely with the Global Center for Equitable Computer Science Education, receiving mentorship in research in preparation for a future academic career. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in activities within the UVA community and beyond (e.g., national conferences, other dissemination avenues) to benefit to their professional growth. Primary responsibilities include the development of an educational robot for elementary and middle school settings and implementing professional development and co-design opportunities with teachers. Project activities will involve design-based research, classroom studies of students engaging with educational robots, and analysis and dissemination of project findings. Minimum requirements: Doctoral degree Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in Education, STEM Education, or related fields Be well-versed in Python and CAD platforms such as Onshape. A strong potential for and interest in developing educational technologies, specifically educational robotics A commitment to fostering inclusion in pedagogy and research Prior experience working with teachers Application instructions: Apply now.
