General Purpose of the Job
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist in the overall health and safety of the individuals served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Knowledge of all medications for all individuals. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician. Generate incident, seizure, and illness reports. Monitor and report health care on daily flow report records. Instruct mid-level supervisors and direct care staff in above, i.e., hygiene, diet, weights, etc. Submit written monthly, quarterly, annual nursing/medical progress notes. Participate in team conferences as necessary. Coordinate laboratory care. Coordinate medical appointments (routine, fees, special and emergency). Maintain functioning interpersonal relationships with other disciplines. Maintain ongoing communication with other programs, i.e., client health care. Monitor program participants during mealtimes. Order, record, and maintain sufficient/adequate supply of medication. Maintain sufficient/adequate amount of medical supplies/materials. Maintain accurate medical records including medication administration sheets, Kardex, Formulary, etc. "Pick-up" and follow through on all physician orders. Provide emergency first aid. Coordinate emergency services. Supervise direct care staff in absence of mid-level supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and one to six months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
