We are seeking a dynamic and experienced R&D Manager I to lead an engineering team through the development and integration of cutting-edge medical devices for peripheral interventions. This R&D Manager I role is a people leadership role that offers the opportunity to drive innovative solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure product designs meet the highest quality and regulatory standards. As a key growth driver for PI (Peripheral Intervention), this role will come with visibility to key leadership, and as a result, communication & leadership will be paramount. The role will include strategic planning, people leadership and development, technology integration, and execution. Your responsibilities will include: Hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent. Assessing project team needs across the projects and working with technical leads and program managers to ensure they are set up for technology and product development success. Providing direction and/or guidance to R&D engineers and technicians who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives. Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables. Collaborates cross-functionally to identify and resolve technical issues Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results Creating an entrepreneurial environment. Keeping the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. Demonstrating effective change leadership. Building strategic partnerships across Boston Scientific to further departmental and organizational objectives. Developing and executing organizational and operational policies that affect one or more groups by utilizing technical/professional knowledge and skills. Monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures. Making decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules in order to achieve department objectives. Developing, monitoring and appropriately adjusting the annual budget for department. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements). Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or more from accredited school in Mechanical, Biotechnical, Biomedical, or related discipline 7+ years of experience in medical equipment or medical device design Demonstrated capability to produce innovative solutions for complex technical problems. Personal drive, individual accountability & a strong bias for action. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated leadership in recent role Willingness to work onsite at our Maple Grove, MN location Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Class II or Class III medical device product development Catheter design and development experience 2+ years of direct management experience
