Location: Methodist Women's Hospital Address: 707 N. 190th Plaza - Elkhorn, NE Work Shift: Varied Provides instruction to families following established class objective & curriculum. Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Provides instruction to families following established class objective & curriculum. Follows curriculum to cover material in scheduled week. Assures focus of content is only class objectives. Utilizes adult education principles to maximize learning. Classroom environment is conducive to learning by seating arrangements & visual poster displays. Provides a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that fosters participant questions. Learning is offered by written material, lecture, discussion, video, visual, demonstration & practice, hands on, small group activities to meet all 3 learning styles of adults. Incorporates PowerPoint slides with lecture. Conducts a learning task for each objective. Organizes and prioritizes class content to assure compliance with established time frames. Class begins and ends on time. Assures completion and examination of evaluations as an avenue for change. Assures clients have completed a formal evaluation. Reviews evaluation feedback. Professional growth and development Completes 8 hours per year of observation in the inpatient birth area of Methodist Women's Hospital, or 8 hours of observation of other classes or a combination of both. Attends 1 continuing education offering per year. Certified as a Childbirth Educator. Certified by Lamaze or Bradley. Assures follow up on any identified needs of a high risk family. Identifies signs of a high risk client Initiates follow up with family via service leader or social worker. Assures follow up on any concern or complaint identified by a client/family member. Handles immediately any complaint or concern. Initiates follow up with the family via service leader. Provides continuity of instruction to families. Utilizes substitute appropriately. Minimal class cancellations. Notification to office of all changes in instructor or class scheduling. Refers families to other MWH Services and Health System Programs. Schedule

Job Requirements

Education

High School Diploma, or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required. Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements. Bachelor's Degree in healthcare field preferred. Experience

Prior experience teaching classes or providing healthcare-related services preferred. License/Certifications

Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) required within 3 years of hire. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) may be substituted for LCCE Certification. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Strong verbal and teaching skills to address a variety of class sizes. Ability to operate audiovisual equipment. Skilled in the use of personal computers, and standard office equipment. Knowledge of pregnancy, childbirth, and prenatal care. Physical Requirements
