Toolmaker

The Toolmaker creates and designs machine parts by analyzing specifications, metal stock selection, setting-up and operating machine tools, fit and assemble parts, and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and miscellaneous components using appropriate Tool Room equipment to complete the job in the most efficient manner. Duties and Responsibilities

Analyzes work orders, blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions to visualize shape of a part or tool and determine material required Inputs dimensions, plan layout, and determines assembly method of sequence of operation Responsible for heat treating components as necessary Cuts, shapes, and trims prototypes to specified length or shape by using appropriate Tool Room equipment Layout stock for machining Sets up and operates machine tools such as milling machine, lathe, and grinder, to machine parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications Inspects and verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances Examines current or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part Light development of specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product using NX Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe condition or practice to EHS and Tool Room Leader. Performs other duties as directed 2nd Shift Monday-Thursday 9PM-7AM Skills and Competencies

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Outstanding organization and documentation skills Strong critical thinking skills using logic and analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses Prioritize and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner Excellent verbal, written and reading comprehension skills Possesses a strong commitment to team environment while working well with others Well-versed in analyzing and interpreting blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles Ability to apply understanding of machine systems to design, fabricate, maintain, and identify improvement possibilities Working knowledge of machine troubleshooting problems and determine solutions Knowledge of hand tools and tool room machine tools Solid understanding of mathematics and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to hold a tolerance as close as + - .0004 Well-versed in hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, brazing and soldering Proficient in CNC equipment Proficient in Microsoft Office and NX CAD & CAM and MasterCAM software Work Environment and Physical Demands

The physical environment requires the employee to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment. Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis The person in this position needs to wear appropriate PPE for the respective environment (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toe shoes, etc.) Regularly works near moving mechanical parts Occasionally will be expected to lift large materials not to exceed 50 pounds Qualifications

5+ years' experience as a Tool & Die Maker required Associates Degree in Machine Tool & Die and/or Toolmaker Journeyman's Card preferred This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
