Help create a warm, respectful and enriching after school environment assisting children with age-appropriate activities including but not limited to games, sports, crafts, etc. This position assists the Afterschool Coordinator with implementing weekly afterschool activities for elementary aged children K-4th grade. Must be available Monday - Friday, 3 p.m. - 6p.m. following the Worcester County School calendar. Approximately 9-15 hours/week $15.91/hour. Must have experience working with elementary aged children. Drug test and background check are required. This position is open until filled.

This position is responsible for assisting the After School Coordinator with daily operations of an afterschool program for elementary aged children. This includes set-up and break down of equipment, instruction of activities, and enforcing rules and safety procedures.

Job Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following: other duties may be assigned. Assist Coordinator in the daily operations of an afterschool program for elementary aged children. Instruct various age-appropriate recreational activities for children in Kindergarten through 4th grades. Set up and break down equipment for daily activities. Inspect playing areas and equipment for safety and maintain and inventory of equipment. Prepare and serve healthy snacks daily. Enforce department rules and procedures and be able to administer discipline and communicate with the parents. Administer basic first aid and follow all safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS

High School students at least 16 years old are eligible to apply. Preference given to students with experience working with elementary aged children or studying child development/childcare.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and communicate basic information to supervisor and students. Ability to write basic information. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification. Valid driver's license required. Must pass a drug test and background check OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to think and act quickly and remain calm under emergency situations. Must be able to make decisions promptly. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time. Must be able to physically perform the specific duties of the programed activities.
