Sterile Processing Technician
The Sterile Processing Technician reports to the Manager, Sterile Processing. Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination. Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of processes. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Basic computer skills required. Employee must be certified and be able to maintain a certification in sterile processing from CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure health care environment required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Detail oriented required. Travel may be required. Holiday work and emergency management/disaster team work required. Ability to perform job functions while standing. Ability to perform job functions while sitting. Ability to perform job functions while walking. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to work indoors. Ability to work from elevated areas. Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces. Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions. Ability to bend at the waist. Ability to squat and perform job functions. Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. Ability to reach in all directions. Possess good finger dexterity. Ability to fully use both legs. Ability to fully use both hands/arms. Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted. Ability to lift/lower objects 15 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted. Ability to lift from 36 inches to overhead 15 lbs. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. Ability to match or discriminate between colors. Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to work in a latex safe environment.
