Instructional Designer (EPIC)
This position is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing instructional materials and training programs focused on electronic medical record systems. The Instructional Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts while understanding user needs and creating engaging and effective training solutions to ensure that healthcare professionals can efficiently use application systems. They develop and lead the creation of course content for all application(s) at the direction of Principal Trainers for applications that share a portion of the end users workflow. The training modalities should meet initial and ongoing training needs and support the usability (i.e. proficiency) program led by the Director of Usability & System Application Training. Training modalities may include interactive and non-interactive web-based learning and additional training materials that require digital solutions to design and publish. The Instructional Designer is expected to help match the digital training modality content to the production environment of the Piedmont end-users. The Instructional Designer is responsible for the quality of the training modality content and staying current with best practices for instructional design. The Instructional Designer represents the Information Services team and is responsible for establishing and maintaining critical business relationships with fellow Piedmont co-workers, physicians, and all others who use or interact with the Information Services department. Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Minimum Experience Required: Five (5) years of experience in instructional design or training development, preferably within a healthcare or EHR context. Minimum Licensure/Certification Required by Law: None. Additional Qualifications: Strong understanding of EHR systems and healthcare workflows. Familiarity with major EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) is highly desirable. Expertise in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and AI solutions for voice-over recording Proficiency in scenario-based script writing and end-user knowledge assessment Desire to improve customer value and build collegial relationships to achieve outcomes.
