is seeking a full-time
Project Manager/Architectural Historian
to join our West Cultural Resources team. The position may be based out of our regional offices (Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Salt Lake City, or Reno), remotely within the region, or hybrid. In addition to providing technical expertise in architectural history, history, and or historic preservation, you will also be tasked with helping oversee the completion of cultural resources, architectural history and history projects across the West. In addition to project management and technical oversight, client relations will also be key in this role. You will report to the WestLand West Cultural Resources Director.
What will I be doing? Serving as WestLand primary architectural historian on projects throughout the West region and nation-wide. Researching, leading fieldwork, and authoring reports and report sections focused on architectural history and history. Creating and developing proposals including establishing budgets, schedules, and applicable resources for architectural history and history efforts. Managing and coordinating architectural history and multi-disciplinary cultural resource projects including scheduling, managing budgets, leading teams, and liaising with clients on field survey and evaluation projects. Coordinating with state and federal agencies, and clients to ensure successful project results. Building relationships with current and future clients and teaming partners.
What qualifications are required for this role? A master's degree in Historic Preservation, Public History, Heritage Conservation, Architectural History, History, or a related field. Meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History. At least five (5) years of experience on architectural history projects, preferably in the Western US. Excellence in conducting primary and secondary research, writing technical architectural history and history reports, and preparing interpretive materials In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal cultural resources laws and regulations. Expertise in applying relevant significance criteria to make eligibility recommendations for historic-age properties. Customer-focused approach to project management, including supporting clients through contentious projects and circumstances. Positive working relationships with State Historic Preservation Officers and agencies. Experience conducting and leading fieldwork in environments ranging from highly developed urban areas to remote rural properties, including in inclement weather. Commitment to ensuring field safety. Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $120,000 annually.
