8/17/2025 11:59 PM Eastern POSITION DEFINITION The East Hartford Public Library is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Public Service Manager to oversee and assist at all service points within the library. This role involves maintaining building order and security, and ensuring a positive experience for patrons and staff. The Public Service Manager works under the general supervision of the Assistant Library Director.

Ability to manage and supervise subordinate staff. Professional Ethics:

Familiarity with the ethics and values of the profession, including the Library Bill of Rights, the ALA Code of Ethics, freedom of information, confidentiality of library records, and privacy issues.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND LICENSING Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of one year of work experience in a library, non-profit, or equivalent community agency. Supervisory experience is preferred. Technical Skills: Ability to stay current with new technologies and methods. Working knowledge of public computing environments. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with library staff, patrons, and community partners. Strong skills in resolving confidential and sensitive situations. Professional Skills: Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and manage and supervise subordinate staff.
