Position Summary:
The QA Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory testing and supporting management in maintaining the facility's food safety program. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and assists with managing QA tasks in the absence of the QA Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure plant operations meet food safety and occupational safety regulations (e.g., AIB, BRC, GFSI, FDA, OSHA). Assist with food safety documentation and regulatory audits.
Food Safety Program Management:
Adhere to GMPs, SSOPs, and internal food safety policies. Support QA Manager with audits, inspections, and recalls. Help enforce contamination control, allergen segregation, and proper material handling. Participate in internal food safety/GMP audits. Verify metal detector functionality and assist with HACCP and sanitation documentation.
Product Testing / Laboratory Compliance:
Conduct microbiological and chemical testing on raw materials and finished goods. Collect and analyze environmental samples (air, water, surfaces). Ensure lab equipment calibration and maintain lab supply inventory. Perform trend analyses to improve food safety programs.
Label Compliance:
Verify accuracy of product labels to maintain compliance with allergen, organic, and related standards.
Customer Compliance:
Investigate customer complaints and retain samples. Collaborate with the QA team to resolve complaints promptly.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and documentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access Effective communication with management and teams
Education & Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years in a food manufacturing environment and/or laboratory setting
