Linux Engineer (Expert), McLean
Fuel is seeking a Linux Engineer to join our expanding team. Duties may include: Proactively maintain and develop Linux infrastructure to ensure 24x7x365 uptime Engineer systems administration solutions for various projects and operational needs Apply best practices in managing systems and services across all environments Perform fault finding, analysis, and logging for performance reporting Monitor system performance and plan capacity proactively Manage software upgrades and patches on servers and workstations Create and modify scripts or applications to automate tasks Suggest improvements for stability, security, efficiency, and scalability Collaborate with team members on automation and deployment strategies Skills and Experience: Proficiency in building and optimizing Linux servers Ability to perform root cause analysis to identify opportunities for improvement Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux systems Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chef) Experience with Infrastructure as Code Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields At least five years of experience with Linux (RedHat, CentOS, etc.), Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Terraform, MySQL, Elasticsearch, VMware, AWS, scripting (Shell/Python), and protocols (DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP) Linux certifications (RHCE, LPIC) are a plus Strong problem-solving and communication skills About Fuel Fuel Consulting LLC helps clients create their future with expert guidance, best practices, and customized tools.
