REPORTS TO:

Director of Career and Technical Education

JOB GOAL : To strengthen students' future readiness by coordinating comprehensive career development services and work-based learning opportunities in partnership with educators, employers, and community organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina 747 Career Development Coordinator or 749 Career Development Facilitator license. Background in Career and Technical Education, school counseling, or career counseling. Experience planning and coordinating work-based learning programs (e.g., internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships) preferred. Strong ability to build effective, collaborative partnerships with educators, employers, and community stakeholders, and vendors. Excellent communication, organization, time management, and project coordination skills. Proficient in data analysis and use of digital tools to support decision-making and program development. Knowledge of innovative, research-based strategies that promote student engagement, career readiness, and successful postsecondary transitions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Career Development Leadership Lead and coordinate grades 5-12 career development services across the district. Advocate for equitable access to career readiness programming and workforce opportunities for all students. Support and collaborate with Career Development Coordinators, Career Academy Coordinators, and Special Populations Coordinators. Work-Based Learning Coordination Design and oversee a comprehensive continuum of work-based learning experiences aligned with labor market needs (e.g., job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships). Organize district-level career-connected events such as career fairs, college visits, and employability skill-building activities. Recruit and engage volunteers and partners to support extended learning opportunities (e.g., guest speakers, mentors, sponsors). Professional Learning & Support Provide training, tools, and guidance to educators for integrating career-connected learning in instruction. Stay current on workforce trends and emerging careers through active participation in local, regional, state, and national professional development. Identify and implement strategies that support students in developing durable, in-demand employability skills such as communication, collaboration, adaptability, critical thinking, and professionalism. Partnership Development Establish and maintain partnerships with business, education, military, and community organizations to expand student opportunities and support CTE initiatives. Represent Johnston County Public Schools and the Office of Career and Technical Education at external meetings and partner convenings. Data Management & Communication Use digital tools to manage, analyze, and communicate workforce, career development, and labor market data to inform stakeholders and guide programming. Develop and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to workforce development initiatives. Accountability & Compliance Coordinate CTE Advisory Council meetings and compliance documentation in collaboration with the Chairperson and CTE Director. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and district policies, laws, and regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, talking, seeing, hearing, & repetitive motion. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
