OverviewSTUDENT POSITION - MUST BE ENROLLED IN A RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM. As a health care professional, the incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to, educating staff and patients in all aspects of respiratory therapy & ECG, respiratory staff orientation and other duties as requested by Manager of Respiratory Care. QualificationsLicense/Certifications: BLS within 30 days of hireEducation: Other Knowledge/Skills: ResponsibilitiesPERFORMS PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES TO INCLUDE ALL FORMS OF RESPIRATORY THERAPY, NON-INVASIVE CARDIOLOGY, AND OTHER ASSIGNED DUTIES UTILIZING APPLICABLE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.Interprets and executes physician ordersDemonstrates the ability to individualize therapy to meet the patient's needDemonstrates the ability to anticipate the patient needsDemonstrates the ability to calculate medication dosagesPerforms patient educationPerforms all duties in an efficient and timely mannerNotifies leader of respiratory care, nursing supervisor, or unit leader of any inappropriate patient care issuesDocuments all patient care errorsInforms nurses or other care givers when appropriate on patient care issuesUses protective equipment appropriatelyPractices good body mechanics, getting assistance as needed to protect patient and own safetyRemains alert and responsive to all alarms/call lightsAlways washes hands between patients and proceduresPerforms testing in a manner that ensures accurate results.Maintains a clean work area, checks and stocks supplies in their specific area.Performs oxygen rounds and oxygen tank rounds as assigned.Responds to all pages and requests in a timely mannerPerforms home care instructions and arrange for home oxygen and/or nebulizerResponds to emergency situations and codes immediatelyRemains calm and effective in emergency and/or stressful situationsEnsures patient safety in the hospital environment by following policy/procedures and adhering to National Patient Safety GoalsPRIORITIZES PATIENT CARE BASED ON ACUITY AND USES TIME, SUPPLIES, & OTHER RESOURCES PRODUCTIVELYAnswers pages and new orders in a timely mannerResponds promptly to urgent needsUtilizes free time constructivelyUses slow time to improve unit and department appearanceUses slow time to stock areas and clean equipmentAssists other healthcare workersUses free time to participate in department projectsCompletes work within assigned shiftDemonstrates ability to organize and prioritize workRemains flexible to changing work loadResponds to delegation by charge personnelAdheres to treatment scheduleCompletes activities while conserving resourcesMAINTAINS ACCURATE DOCUMENTATION AND ACCURATE COMPUTER ENTRYCompletes documentation of all therapy and oxygenCompletes documentation on all internal formsDocuments complete and accurate charge entry dailyDocuments complete and accurate information on all ECGsCompletes accurate documentation on all diagnostic testsLearns the functions of new equipment as appropriateLearns new procedures as appropriateCompletes all mandatory education within the stated timeframeAttends educational offerings to validate skills About UsFind it here.Discover the job, the career, the purpose you were meant for. Compensation and BenefitsThe compensation range for this position is $20.14per hour - $32.63per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
