of experience in mechanical piping design Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in mechanical design/drafting Proficiency in Plant 3D is required Position Summary
The
Mechanical Designer - Piping SR I
plays a key role in developing advanced
3D piping and equipment designs
for
retrofit and new construction projects
in power generation or similar heavy industrial environments. The position requires strong technical expertise in layout, modeling, and documentation, as well as the ability to mentor junior designers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant designs. Key Responsibilities Provide detailed
3D piping and equipment layouts
for
retrofit
and other industrial projects Generate
2D orthographic drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs , and
pipe support designs Develop and review
general arrangements (GAs)
and design documentation Perform
sizing and selection of piping components
in accordance with project requirements Gather and verify
field data
to support accurate and comprehensive design deliverables Prepare
material take-offs
and assist with construction planning documentation Collaborate with engineers and other designers to ensure
design integration and functionality Interpret and apply
industry codes and standards
(e.g., ASME, ANSI, API) Ensure accuracy, safety, and constructability of all mechanical piping designs Skills & Expertise Required Intermediate to advanced-level experience
in
mechanical piping system design
for
power generation or heavy industrial facilities Proficient in
3D modeling tools
for piping system layout and design -
Plant 3D experience is required Strong understanding of
piping specifications, components, codes, and standards Ability to conduct
site visits
and gather field measurements Skilled in producing
comprehensive design documentation , including drawings and take-offs Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and multi-disciplinary coordination skills Capable of working independently or in a
lead designer capacity
on complex projects
