The Content Manager will manage the development and optimization of new business development collateral and content initiatives for Akerman, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand voice across digital and print platforms. Working closely with the Content Operations Manager and the Director of Communications, this role requires a strategic thinker and skilled writer/editor with hands-on experience in website content management, developing and updating attorney biographies, pitch documents, various alerts for external publication, and creating and revising practice area descriptions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of legal services marketing, SEO best practices, leveraging AI, understanding of backend website technology, and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities: Manage, update, and optimize website content, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with the firm’s brand and business objectives. Write and regularly update attorney and professional biographies, capturing individual strengths and achievements while maintaining consistency in tone and style. Develop custom pitch materials that capture essential differentiators and key themes that win new business in concert with the client development managers. Develop and maintain compelling practice area descriptions that highlight the firm’s expertise and value proposition for prospective clients. Collaborate with attorneys, practice leaders, and business development teams to identify content needs and gather relevant information for content creation. Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, legal compliance, and industry best practices, including accessibility and SEO optimization. Analyze content performance using analytics tools, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement. Oversee the editorial calendar for web and print content, ensuring timely delivery of content to support marketing campaigns, events, and firm news. Assist in drafting and editing press releases, bylined articles, and thought leadership pieces for publication on the firm’s website, third-party media, and legal directories. Serve as a resource for other team members, providing guidance on content strategy, messaging, and best practices. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field. 6–8 years of experience in content management, with a strong preference for experience in a law firm or professional services setting. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated experience producing high-quality content for websites, press releases, bylined articles, and professional bios. Proven ability to translate complex legal topics into clear, accessible, and engaging content for a variety of audiences. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders at all levels of an organization. Attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, and a proactive approach to content governance and compliance. Familiarity with legal industry trends, terminology, and ethical considerations is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting business development, proposals, or legal directory submissions. Knowledge of graphic design, video, or multimedia content creation is a plus.
