Position Description: The Oswego County Public Defender’s Office has immediate openings for Assistant Public Defenders responsible for representing indigent persons in criminal courts, with an emphasis on criminal defense matters. Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Qualifications: Graduation from an American Bar Association-accredited law school. Preference may be given to applicants with experience in criminal law and/or Family Court. Special Requirement: NYS License to practice law. Candidate must be a resident of Oswego, Cayuga, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, or Onondaga County at the time of appointment. Starting Salary: $83,433 - $112,372, negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, NYS retirement, and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
