We are seeking a full-time
Engineering Business Development Manager
(Outdoor and Fitness Technology) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and cultivating strategic technology partnerships to support company and product growth across Garmin’s core markets, delivering both financial and technological value through professionalism, business expertise, and thorough business processes. Essential Functions
Cultivate partnerships with integrity and respect to address business needs and priorities. Create long-term value for Garmin by developing relationships with partners to secure complex technology, content, and intellectual property rights through positive business terms. Support Garmin product growth through licensing, partnerships, and joint development opportunities that enhance all segments. Initiate new partnerships swiftly to support product innovation and speed to market. Leverage pitch skills, tools, and methods to position Garmin with partners for optimal results, using these skills throughout the partnership lifecycle. Negotiate business terms and expectations with strategic technology partners and coordinate with stakeholders from administration, engineering, marketing, and legal to finalize formal agreements. Cultivate relationships with partners to build rapport while securing additional monetary or marketing value for Garmin. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and communicate industry insights to engineering and other teams, demonstrating technology and partner expertise for negotiation strategies. Ensure compliance with partner intellectual property and branding requirements, coordinating with internal departments to ensure contract adherence. Leverage technology to expand the Garmin brand. Proactively engage in technology business development and support Garmin’s product development and licensing needs. Potential supervision of team members handling detailed assignments. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, and at least 7 years of relevant experience. Minimum of 5 years of business development and/or marketing experience relevant to Garmin’s needs. Strong academic record (GPA ≥ 3.0). Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal). Proven responsiveness and relationship-building skills. Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly. Passion for technology, Garmin products, and active lifestyles in target markets (automotive, marine, recreation, fitness). Interpersonal skills to relate to various departments and stakeholders. Interest and experience in consumer electronics, technology, and mobile markets. Independent judgment, entrepreneurial thinking, and effective action with minimal supervision. Organized, detail-oriented, analytical, team-oriented, proactive problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter. Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Access. Desired Qualifications
MBA degree. Over 7 years applicable work experience. Bachelor’s or Master’s in a technical discipline (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering). Understanding of current development technologies across platforms. Outstanding academic record (GPA ≥ 3.5). Project management experience. Subscriptions to industry news sources (e.g., TechCrunch, Gigaom). Ownership of at least one Garmin product. Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
