Joint Exercise Support Team (JEST) Planner
The JEST Planner supports the JEST Lead in planning, managing, liaising, and coordinating exercises, joint training systems, and special projects. Serves as an alternate contact to the JS J7 Joint Exercise Division Desk Officer and/or Event Planner for contractor support. Responsibilities include building exercise schedules, forecasting labor and travel, assisting with budgets, and monitoring the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC). Develops and maintains the team calendar, coordinates team assignments and deployments, and assists functional area planners as needed. The JEST Planner must understand the supported organization, JELC processes, and contract deliverables to effectively design, plan, execute, and assess exercises/events. Facilitates exercise meetings, conferences, and workgroup sessions. This position mirrors a senior Field Grade Staff Officer role and involves travel within the supported organization’s area of responsibility. Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree (additional relevant experience may substitute). Minimum of 11 years of combined education and relevant experience. At least seven years of experience with service and joint doctrine, including combat, support, and service operations. Experience with exercises at levels such as Joint Task Force, Army Corps, Numbered Air Forces, and Numbered Fleet, including planning, design, execution, and assessment. Ability to conduct seminars, training, and post-exercise analysis. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Combatant Command, Joint Task Force, or similar staff roles (preferred). Ability to travel independently within CONUS and OCONUS. Current Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain TS SCI clearance. Current U.S. Passport and U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain a Company Travel Card. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Combatant Command or Joint Staff J7. Extensive operational planning experience. Knowledge of scenario/MSEL development.
