Position Summary:

The Manager of Air Traffic Operations will be responsible for coordination and planning of operational tactics with US and non-US Air Navigation Service Providers with an emphasis on sustainable, efficient operations within the JetBlue network. Areas of focus will include traffic management considerations, including airport/airspace capacity management, SWAP, Snowbird, special events, and other operational constraints. The Manager is specifically responsible for identifying, establishing, and fostering relationships at the local operational level within the US in the Eastern Service Area (e.g., towers, terminal facilities, en route centers) and at the system level through the Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control System Command Center (FAA ATCSCC). The Manager will provide guidance and input to our Air Traffic System Controllers and work closely with the Manager of Strategic Airspace Programs on FAA CDM efforts.

Essential Responsibilities:

Engage and maintain relations with the FAA, foreign Air Navigation Service Providers, and other airlines to achieve the optimum air traffic performance for JetBlue

Regular monitoring of Air Traffic Management operational conditions for delay mitigation and increased airport efficiency

Shared JetBlue participation in Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) efforts with objective of delay avoidance and mitigation.

Working knowledge of traffic management tools, procedures and concepts including but not limited to Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS), SlickOR, Flight Schedule Monitor (FSM), Trajectory Options Set (TOS), Pathfinder, and North American Route Program (NRP)/Free Routing

Work with Airports, Network, Ops Engineering, Dispatch and Airport Authorities to manage events affecting airport throughput such as planned construction, air shows, major events

Collaborate with the FAA and other National Airspace System (NAS) operators to protect JetBlue interests in management of special use airspace and commercial space launches

Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma

FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate or ATC Certification

Five (5) years' experience in air traffic management or as an Aircraft Dispatcher

Knowledge of the structure and function of the Federal and International air traffic organizations, including FAA tools and technologies, and the configuration of the air traffic system (facility locations)

Knowledge of the System Operations Center & functions

Knowledge of the tasks and workload within the cockpit

Available for regular overnight travel (25%)

Able to work flexible hours and be available for an emergency response on short notice

Must pass a pre-employment drug test

Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Business or Aviation-related field

Five (5) years' experience in a Part 121 airline environment

Ten (10) years' experience in the Airline System Operations Center (SOC) environment

Five (5) years leadership experience

Manager experience in air traffic control and traffic flow management operations

Crewmember Expectations:

Regular attendance and punctuality

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice

Able to maintain a professional appearance

When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

Uphold JetBlue's safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is between $115,000.00 and $170,000.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
