Location: Charlotte or Raleigh, NC Work Schedule: Hybrid - 4 days per week onsite
Key Role Highlights:
Leadership track: Opportunity to lead a team and manage complex, high-impact traffic analysis projects Focus: Analytical studies & modeling, and conducting traffic impact studies, level of service analyses, capacity modeling, etc. Technical focus: Traffic studies, impact analyses, modeling, and technical quality control Project oversight: Includes budgeting, cost/schedule tracking, proposal development, and QC Project lifecycle stage: Involved during the planning and pre-design phases. Provides analysis that influences whether a project moves forward or what design elements are required Client mix: Public and private sector projects, with a strong focus on private development clients. Often supports private development clients (e.g., retail, commercial, residential developers), and analysis is often used to support permitting, rezoning, or site plan approval Software & tools: Synchro, SIDRA, HCS, VISSIM, and/or possibly some GIS for mapping and data analysis Business development: Involvement in marketing, client interfacing, and strengthening DRMP's regional presence Mentorship: Expected to supervise and develop Project Managers, Engineers, and Interns Career path: Suited for those who enjoy data-driven decision making, client interaction, and business development. Strong pathway toward Traffic Planning Director or Private Sector Development Lead.
Candidate Requirements:
7-10+ years of progressive civil/traffic engineering experience Strong private sector traffic study experience and established client relationships Professional Engineer (PE) license required Proficiency in Synchro, SIDRA, and other relevant traffic modeling software Strong leadership qualities and interest in managing direct reports Willingness to travel for client interface and business development Seniority level
