SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior AV Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting audiovisual systems in various environments, including corporate, educational, and event spaces. The role requires extensive AV technology knowledge, project leadership, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring high standards for all installations.
AV TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, configure, and test AV equipment such as projectors, displays, sound systems, control systems, and video conferencing solutions.
Set up and calibrate AV systems for optimal performance.
Run and terminate various cables, including HDMI, Cat6, and fiber optics.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues with AV systems, including signal flow, connectivity, and equipment failures.
Perform regular maintenance and updates on AV equipment.
Provide technical support during events, presentations, and meetings.
Lead Projects:
Lead AV installation projects with technicians and associate technicians.
Assign daily duties to team members involved in projects.
Coordinate with site managers to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Document project progress, configurations, wiring diagrams, and installation notes.
Client Interaction & Training:
Serve as the primary on-site contact during installation and support phases.
Provide training to clients and end-users on AV system operation (training provided by Presales).
Mentor and train associate technicians on best practices and troubleshooting.
Help develop standard operating procedures for AV installations and maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or a related degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial AV installation, system integration, and troubleshooting.
Extensive experience with AV control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron) and signal flow.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AV equipment and control systems.
Strong understanding of networking principles, including VLANs, IP addressing, and AV over IP.
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, manuals, and schematics.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and in teams, with attention to detail.
Effective project management and prioritization skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Work at heights on ladders or scaffolding.
Willingness to travel to various job sites.
CERTIFICATIONS:
CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or equivalent preferred.
Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Extron, Dante) are a plus.
